We conduct education and research to create living environments by looking at "life" and "living" through the lens of chemistry.
Students in the Department of Applied Chemistry look at issues of life and living from the perspective of chemistry, seeking practical solutions to questions about what society currently needs and how aspects of everyday living could best be improved. They study a wide range of topics, including problems related to health care and population increase and food supply issues. In their third year of study, students are divided into three majors, the Applied Chemistry Course, the Biochemistry Course, or the Pharmaceutical and Food Chemistry Course, where they develop an understanding of their fields of specialization.
