An electric power system is important infrastructure of the modern society which covers generation of electric power energy, transportation and supply. That is large in scale and is the system controlled highly, and new technology is taken in every day. There are various problems if we introduce many photovoltaic and wind power generation aiming at low carbon society. For example, output of power generation is influenced by the weather condition and it may result in instability of the power system. Power system laboratory is studying and developing countermeasures from both in the generating system side and the electric power system side where such generating electric power is accepted.
We also carry out study on the direct-current power transmission system in which power electronics technology is applied.

Topics of research
  • Study of an integration system of large-scale photovoltaic power generation
  • Study of an electric power transmission system from offshore wind farm
  • Study of leveling of output of power generation and demand
  • Study of sophisticated function and superior reliability of an electric power system
  • Study of a power electronics application to electric power system
