Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a useful tool to evaluate the environmental aspects and potential impacts associated with a product and a service throughout its life span. LCA considers the assessment of products or services in "cradle to grave" perspective. The ISO-14040 series has been put forward as a framework of the internationally standardized LCA application method. Nowadays, many manufacturing companies have started to adopt this method to evaluate the environmental performance of their industrial products.
More recently, LCA has been started to be utilized in evaluating social systems including energy systems and waste treatment systems. Based on the consideration of LCA, i.e., Life Cycle thinking, thechnologies, products and services are evaluated by students toward the sustainable societies.
