It is not enough to understand the primary structures of macromolecules for understanding their properties, because macromolecules are very large molecules. It is important to understand from local structures, such as helical structures, global structure, to aggregation structure. We study the structures of helical polysaccharides, polymer gels, and inter-polymer aggregates to elucidate the relation between their structures and functions considering both their local structures and global structures.

Topics of research
  • Thermal denaturation and renaturation of double helical polysaccharides
  • Inter-Structural analysis of polymer aggregates
  • Control of structures and properties of polymer gels formed by crystals
