Medicinal Natural Products Chemistry laboratory

Supervisor
Osamu OHNO:Associate Professor

Marine organisms, plants, and microorganisms supply useful biologically active substances with unique structures, and there are compounds that are expected to be applied as pharmaceuticals. In addition, some compounds with unique activities contribute to the elucidation of new life phenomena by elucidating their functions. We use natural product chemistry and cell biology techniques to search for new biologically active substances from natural resources obtained through fieldwork and conduct structural elucidation research.

Topics of research
  • Search for new bioactive substances derived from marine organisms
  • Analysis of mechanism of action of novel anti-inflammatory agents derived from bacteria
  • Chemical and biological analysis of the mechanism of action of novel antitumor substances
