Widegap Semiconductor Science and Engineering Laboratory

Supervisor
Takeyoshi ONUMA: Professor

We are focusing on oxide and nitride based widegap semiconductor materials toward developments of deep UV emitters and sensors, quantum devices, and power devices. We believe that the devices will bring us sustainable developments.
Recently, UV light in the wavelength range of 207-222 nm has been found to be effective to sterilize bacteria and to inactive viruses without harming human cells. Our laboratory has succeeded in developing new semiconductors to yield the special UV lights.
The work is the world’s brilliant feat and now attracting attention in the optoelectronic industrial world.
