Human information Science on Communication behavior

Supervisor
Miyuki G.KAMACHI: Professor

Our research is to elucidate how people perceive and recognize "information" such as faces, bodies and objects. We are examining the mechanisms on how humans process a wide variety of external information in our brains. By understanding human information processing, we can apply it to communication using advanced information technology. We are also engaged in research based on Psychophysics, utilizing experimental stimuli based on VR technology and deep learning of AI elemental technologies.

Topics of research

We mainly focus on the following topics:

  • Perception and cognition of faces and voices
  • Creation and evaluation of expressive faces by deep learning
  • Multimodal information processing by VR/AR technologies
