Thin film formation and processing technologies

Supervisor
Ichiro TAKANO: Professor

In order to maintain the comfortable earth, reduction of a load on the environment and a material cycle are required. Thin films (about 0.001 mm in thickness) formed by using very small resources can produce various functions. For example, the future materials coated by the thin film will come to be decomposed in the soil even if those materials look like iron.
We prepare the thin films which decompose the environmental pollution or the thin films which efficiently convert energy, by matching various elements. We create the future thin films in order to maintain the comfortable earth.

Topics of research
  • Study on formation of multi-functional and high-functional films for improvement of electrical, mechanical, or chemical property
  • Study on new photovoltaic cells using ecomaterials
  • Study on surface modification of various materials using ion beam irradiation
